Hi friends.
I mentioned a few months ago, and I think it's a done deal.
Please switch your link from here to my MySpace account. No offense to LiveJournal, but it seems redundant to have both accounts up + running.
the address is:

thanks!

Moby, my Pool, and 911 operators
Jul. 27th, 2006 | 03:49 am
location: home office
mood: awake
Maybe you "had to be there", but this was funny:
I went to the pool today, and saw my neighbor Christina and her 3 kids whom I haven't seen all season. She works as a 911 operator, and has a pretty interesting job. Good benefits. She even suggested I should try it out, given my background in broadcasting/communications.
Anyway, we talked for about 2 hours. (While supervising the kids, of course, b/c they were doing what kids do.)
Somehow the subject of concerts came up, and eventually I said the "M" word -- something about talking to Moby a few months ago, and she basically spit her Diet Pepsi completely across the table!
(Normally, I don't exactly get that reaction...)
She's like "You know MOBY? I mean... the one spelled m-o-b-y?!!"
So my sly self says: "oh yeah, but anyway, I was going to tell you the Nelly Furtado story about the U2 tour..."
She's like "wait... You know Moby?!"
Anyway, perhaps you had to be there - but it was truly funny. (Mo', if you read this, you've apparently got unknown fans working the 911 switchboard. Be nice to them. ) *grin*

Well, nothing beats 105-degree weather than baking at the pool (done) and splashing in cold water (done), and then geting a few new rentals.
I'm so dark now, an old friend I met for lunch told me he thought I just got done jogging or something... I mean, I tan well, but it's BAD out there this week. I've been going to the pool after 4:00 to avoid the worst of it...
So other than playing in the pool and keeping cool, I rented 3 movies this week. That's about all you can do for the next few days here.
Movie One: "The Hills Have Eyes" (1996) remake: Awesome, gory, un-rated, and it looks as hot as it is here, but you can watch it in the comfort of a cool living room. Also, it's better than the first.
Movie Two: "Failure To Watch" (I mean "Failure to Launch"). Actually, this movie was forced upon me (free card from the local Blockbuster)... guys, this is a great, great date flick full of laughs. Even Bradley Cooper (Alias) is in there! Kathy Bates and Terry Bradshaw even!
The only bad part here was the "casting" of Sarah Jessica Parker. OMG.
If you can *pretend* that she is as any other actress, anyone, then it's a girl film that guys will love. But she just didn't belong there. Otherwise, it was up there with "Meet The Parents".
Movie Three: "16 Blocks." Incredible. The guy who made "Lethal Weapon" puts Bruce Willis and Mos Def in the same film, and in New York City. I'll sum it all sum real quick -- Bruce "had a bad day" in terms of his hair... I *hope* this wasn't intentional, b/c he looks like shit the entire film. The hair on his lip was nothing short of disgusting.
Mos Def was nothing short of an inspiration. He stole the entire show. It's worth renting if only for him -- keep Bruce in the background.
I'm still trying to get hold of "The Omen". *le sigh*

Recent trip to "Raleigh-wood"
Jul. 14th, 2006 | 05:51 am
Yep, I've been lazy in posting this... partly due to enjoying the sun and being outside.
Liz (a friend of many years) took me to Raleigh for a wedding. And it was a wonderful weekend, (as said before) because it was nothing but food, drink, meeting new friends, and finding old friends.
We started off with at a great sushi place (private room and an old-school DJ friend!) Then, we went by a wine bar named "Mosaic". I think it just opened, but it's very cool, and has a Morocco/Turkish theme to it -- in terms of decoration. And the owner greeted us both on the way in and the way out -- something you don't see very often.
The wedding itself was awesome. Not too big or small -- just perfect. It was held in the courtyard of an art gallery, and they were running 20 minutes late (thankfully, because a train passed at about 3:05). Pure luck, I guess. Can you imagine saying your vows during a train horn?
Anyway, both the bride and groom were so gracious. Especially due to the fact I didn't really know them. But they pulled off one great wedding, and it's almost exactly what I would want. Very cool place, and I wish them the best.
Other weekend stories included a visit to "The Raleigh Times" (newspaper-themed restaurant) with possibly the best beer I've tasted. I think it might be a local beer, but it's called the "# 9". Also, Liz took me to this freaking awesome design studio run by her friend Matt (I'll add more in a bit, I left his card in my car as I type this)... his studio is wicked! Anything from sculpture to lighting to... you name it. This place was awesome. I was very, very impressed.
Of course, we went by Kulture on Saturday night, and ran into DJ Rob Rousseau. That was planned. But on the same night, in walks DJ Rob Pickering (who now lives in South Carolina) who just happened to be in town. How weird is that? Then, someone taps me on the shoulder, and asks if the girl I'm with is named "Liz" (to which I say yes), and he turns out to be an old friend of hers from school. His name is Rob -- go figure.
Anyway, it was a great weekend, and I really appreciate Liz giving me the invite. (She teased me about being too "open/honest" on the Internet !)
Well, here I go again... heh.
But that was a great weekend, and that's the story. Thanks Liz... it was great to see you again.

"Heads Up" - to my friends (serious, you might want to read.)
Jul. 4th, 2006 | 09:12 pm
mood:
blah
I might/might not be leaving this "LiveJournal" for good.
We were talking of the pros/cons over the weekend, versus "MySpace.com"...
So, In a week or two, if I'm not posting here, please add this address instead: www.myspace.com/dj_mr_bill
It just seems *redundant* to have both. Hope you understand.

P.S. MY ENTIRE ARCHIVE BEFORE JANUARY 2006 IS GONE. Yet another reason...

Finally! Road Trip -- have a great weekend/vacation.
Jun. 30th, 2006 | 12:57 am
Finally!
Tomorrow, I'm off to the Raleigh area for a few days for a wedding, and to visit some "boardies", and to re-visit "Kulture" (where the benefit was), and it just happens to be July 4th weekend!
Most importantly, our ten days of constant rain have stopped!
I actually got some sun today.
So lo and behold, you might just see me dressed up, but also with hair!
Yeah, I've got the "choppy" thing going on. But I got some "bling" to go with it, so it might be an interesting weekend! New avatar, perhaps!
Anyways, whatever you do, have a happy weekend / holiday, and you'll get the scoop later!

TeaNY has competition with KISS ?!
Jun. 28th, 2006 | 06:44 am
Well, not really, but this is too funny not to share.
Rock band KISS have opened up their first "coffee house" in Myrtle Beach, SC under the name the "KISS Coffehouse".

(Myrtle Beach is one of the most popular summer attractions for vacationers on the east coast, although "the strip" is known for many *tacky* attractions.)
"KISS Coffeehouse" is probably the latest one on the list. It opened June 27th, and the band were there to sign autographs despite the rain.
"The KISS Coffeehouse menu will feature Signature KISS Coffee, including Demon Dark Roast and French KISS Vanilla, eight flavors of the KISS Frozen Rockuccino, the most caffeinated and refreshing coffee beverage on the market, as well as full array of cookies, brownies and cupcakes. For more info and a complete menu list, please log on to www.kisscoffeehouse.com - their new site. According to Paul Stanley, "The KISS Coffeehouse is our way of providing everyone with the buzz of great, quality treats and coffee filled with enough sugar and caffeine to get the party started, and keep it going!""
If you're familiar with the area, it's in the "Broadway On The Beach" strip, which includes the all-too-familiar Hard Rock Cafe, NASCAR Cafe, and any other "touristy" restaurant imaginable.

What's possibly next?! ;)

Farewell Sean (DJ OldSchool) :(
Jun. 25th, 2006 | 05:04 am
mood:
depressed

As I didn't know him as well as those at Kulture (in Raleigh), here it is in their words. Farewell, Sean... take care.
"As most of you know DJ OldSchool aka Sean Johnson died in a car accident on Tuesday morning. He was the resident DJ here at Kulture on Sundays. It was one of the few things that the Independent actually listed. This was the last place he got to DJ. It was still listed in the Independent this week. So this Sunday I'm going to play some of Sean's CD's that he gave me as well as some others. All bar proceeds will go to his family to help defray funeral costs. Please come and celebrate the spirit of Sean......"

Rain / Football / Rain / Die Warzau... and more rain.
Jun. 25th, 2006 | 04:00 am
mood:
happy
A few things...
Just a few things...
First, the weather here sucks right now (we're getting intense storms from the tropics), and last night we had 8 inches of rain in 45 minutes. No sun in sight until Monday, I'm afraid. I need my pool.
Second, some fave teams of mine (the US and South Korea) are out of the World Cup. So I'm sticking with Italy, although the Ukraine look mighty good. And (of course) I still have a few other faves.
Third, this kind of caught me off-guard, but in a good way. See this band from days ago (at least in terms of my DJ'ing) called Die Warzau contacted me to be "their friend" (myspace terminology)! Now, I mean, I've been spinning their stuff since the early 90's, so this was a shock... of course they are my friends, although I can't honestly remember if we ever met "back in the day". Anyways, to be honest, I visited their site, and under their Blog section was this title: "Honor the Warrior, not the War".
Deep thoughts there. Well said.
Visit their myspace if you'd like (link under my friends section), and check out a song titled "Land of the Free" (live). It might just pop-up here in a few days. Anyways, it was great to hear that they are still rocking it.

TeaNY teacup makes "cameo" appearance on SNL
Jun. 25th, 2006 | 01:17 am
mood:
optimistic
Tonight's show was hosted by Kevin Spacey... there was a sketch (you had to pay atttention), but there was a reference to tea, and there sits a TeaNY cup + saucer.
I think it was the season finale for this year. (Same show that Nelly Furtado + Timberland were on).
Not much, but pretty cool if you "caught" it.
